2022-23 season stats: 19.5 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 3.5 apg

Recruiting battle: St. John’s vs Pittsburgh vs Georgia vs Penn State

Thomasson was one of the top players in the MAAC this past season, leading Niagara in scoring as a 4th-year junior. The 6’3 guard shot nearly 50% from the field and 39% from deep and went for 20+ points in 16 of 31 games. One of them was a 35-point game on 15/26 shooting versus Canisius.

Thomasson entered the transfer portal early on but his recruitment took a minute to get going. But now, there’s not only a list of options but also a reported announcing date of May 10th. Currently, he’s on a visit to Penn State and will go to Pittsburgh next weekend.

San Francisco was 5th option available but I doubt they have much of a shot here. The four other programs all have a case to make. However, there are two weeks between now and a decision and all of the teams are currently looking at other options. Georgia could be landing Vandy transfer Tyrin Lawrence, while St. John’s is after RJ Luiz, among other options.

There’s a good chance that some of these teams will take themselves out of the running by landing other options. So we’ll know who really has a shot at Thomasson by the 10th.
