Seton Hall

There are a ton of Big East teams on the bubble this season and Seton Hall is certainly among that number. Second-year head coach Shaheen Holloway is looking to build success at his alma mater and may have a team that could surprise some if their wish comes true on Selection Sunday. Their late December win against Connecticut continues to be the backbone of their resume, though it’s certainly improved in recent weeks.

Last week, Seton Hall beat fellow bubble teams Xavier and St. John’s and they repeated the feat with another in the past week. The Pirates got a 76-64 home win over Butler, completing a season-sweep over a Bulldogs team also firmly on the bubble. Seton Hall secured their fifth win in six games. Even though Butler was just a Quad 2 win; they won and that’s exactly what they need to do right now.

That double-digit win over Butler doesn’t look like much, but the opposite result could have been deadly for the Pirates. They’re riding key wins over both UConn and Marquette but are starting to stockpile other wins over potential Tournament teams. They’ve shook off a rough stretch in late January and look like an NCAA Tournament team, though next week will be murderous, with road games at Creighton and Connecticut.
