Houston

A monster in the AAC in recent years, Houston has become quite the monster in their first season in the Big 12. They tripped on the road a few times earlier during conference play, including a tough outing at Kansas. However, the Cougars have some of the best metrics in the nation and are coming off one of the best weeks a Big 12 team has had all season long.

Looking to continue their positive momentum, Houston secured an important 73-65 win over a Top 10 Iowa State squad back on Monday. They avenged an early January loss to those Cyclones and picked up another Quad 1 win the process. They ran their Quad 1 record to 7-3 on Saturday, winning 82-76 in a thriller at Baylor, getting yet another ranked win this season.

There are numerous teams in the Big 12 that will reach the NCAA Tournament and it’s no surprise to see them cannibalize each other on a weekly basis. That hasn’t been the case recently for the Cougars, whose only loss in the last six weeks was in Lawrence. They’ll get a chance to avenge that loss at home to end the regular season but have already proven that their a lock for a 1-seed and probably the Big 12’s best team already.
