Bracketology 2024: Houston, Creighton, and Nebraska among week's biggest winners

Wake Forest
The Demon Deacons haven’t exactly played a starring role in the ACC in recent years, though Steve Forbes and company are hoping to reverse that trend. Wake Forest certainly isn’t going to win this league this season, but this program is trending in a great direction. It’s unfortunate that wins over Florida, Rutgers, and Virginia haven’t aged as well as they could’ve, but the Demon Deacons did have a pretty great week.
On Tuesday, they played phenomenal basketball, winning 91-58 against a Pittsburgh team that beat them less than three weeks earlier. More revenge came over the weekend, as the Demon Deacons defeated Duke 83-79 in a game that was overshadowed by court storming mayhem. When the dust settled, Wake Forest had their first Quad 1 win of the season and survived for their best week of the season.
A team many considered just on the outside of the bubble likely worked their way into the Tournament field with these two wins. The work is clearly not done, as the Demon Deacons could just as easily go backwards in the final weeks of the season. Road games at Notre Dame and Virginia Tech beckon next week, with that matchup against the Hokies paramount for their at-large hopes as they cling on the edge.
