Boise State (14-8) (NET: 48)
5-6 (Q1), 2-1 (Q2), 3-1 (Q3), 4-0 (Q4)

Part of a well-positioned contingent of MWC teams, Boise State actually has several impressive victories, evident by that record against Quad 1 games. They meet a great Saint Mary’s squad early in the season before some excellent performances in conference play, including true road wins at Nevada and New Mexico back in January.

That sinker on the resume is a home loss against UNLV back in the middle of January and it’s not the worst thing in the world. Their Quad 2 loss was against Virginia Tech during their holiday tournament in Florida and they’ve avoided any other upsets in MWC play.

All in all, Boise State has work to do to grab their spot, especially after recent double-digit losses to Colorado State and Utah State. However, very few teams would find themselves in this kind of position with 5 Quad 1 wins, and the Broncos have chances for a few more in the final weeks of the season.

Butler (15-9) (NET: 50)
4-8 (Q1), 3-0 (Q2), 2-1 (Q3), 6-0 (Q4)

Butler has done everything they can to get into Tournament position in recent weeks. They picked up a 4th Quad 1 win early in February, winning at Creighton. Their other impressive win was another road contest in Big East play, namely a win at Marquette on January 10th.

Unfortunately, that win in Milwaukee was their only one in a tough six-game stretch early in conference play. They followed that upset with a tough home loss to Seton Hall that’s currently a Quad 3 defeat. Fortunately, that’s their only loss of note, doing excellent work in nonconference play.

The Bulldogs recently dropped tough Tuesday night contests to Connecticut and Marquette, which are certainly forgivable but won’t push the needle. There are more Quad 1 chances in the weeks ahead, including rematches with Creighton and Villanova, and Butler certainly needs a few more wins of note.
